So one question I have is, what happened to all those energies of the people who were condemned to death for being a witch, wrongfully or even those who were justified? This type of tragic and traumatic death must leave a mark on the areas surrounding the tragedies of the 1692 Salem witch trials and convictions.
Steve Kulls and I decided that we would take a trip out to Salem, MA for Halloween! I have always wanted to go, so we packed the car and headed out! I wanted to experience All Hallows Eve in the most appropriate place in the states.
The people of Salem, MA go to town on Halloween! It's a giant festival involving carnival rides, food, museums, haunted houses, haunted tours, and over 20,000 people. With this much energy flowing on the best day of the year for experiencing the other side (as the veil between the two realms is the thinnest on this day), and the history of the location, there was bound to be some activity!
I believe that energy just doesn't stop or go away it gets put back into the environment and the people/things around you. That being said, I believe that after the events of Halloween from all the people that came to Salem and the activities they partook in, the environment would be well charged for a paranormal investigation!
Steve and I spent the whole day, the following day after Halloween, and went to museums, and shops, and learned all that we could about the town of Salem. We discovered the location of the Old Burying Ground, with some of the oldest stones I have ever seen (one even being that of a Mayflower pilgrim!) , along with the location where those convicted of being a witch were actually hung, Gallows Hill Park.
Steve and I went to the park around dusk to conduct an outdoor EVP session (Electronic Voice Phenomena- Audio captured which we may or may not have heard during the actual investigation in response to questions and our presence there). We chose the Gallows Hill Park because we decided that it would be the most likely place to capture activity due to the nature of their death and how traumatic it was. This was a smart move on our part!
We conducted a 45 min EVP and video session in which we got some truly amazing audio and video evidence! It's not typical to get too many EVP's out of one session let alone a video capture. While we conducted our session, we ended up with two EVP's, a disembodied footstep, and a video capture of a light anomaly. This is huge for a 45 min session.
The light anomaly that we caught we did not see as it occurred, as well as we did not hear the EVP's as they were captured. We did however, notice the disembodied footstep as that occurred live time. I was facing Steve while we conducted the EVP session. He and I were going back and forth asking questions, when Steve heard someone's foot step behind him , at the same time I heard it and watched a couple leaves get smashed into the ground as if they were actually stepped on. I saw it with my own eyes, and I know that it was definitely not the wind! The fact that we both experienced it and caught it on at least one recorder was note worthy.
Steve and I left the EVP session feeling great about what we felt and what we did experience and couldn't wait to get some analysis done! I was so glad that Steve brought the laptop so that we could do analysis in the hotel room that night. I was absolutely amazed at what we caught out of this trip! I can't wait to go back again next year!!
When conducting research like this in such a historically rich area, and anywhere for that matter, you should do so with respect for those who have departed. Their traumatic experiences and eventually their deaths are not anything to scoff at or demean. They were living once too, and deserve the respect they were denied so long ago!
